Landing at Heathrow

Whether you’re ending your air journey Or connecting to another flight, here’s The lowdown on landing at Heathrow

Touchdown to downtown
Want to speed through the airport and on to your final destination? Simply pick your starting point and follow the signs…

Choose your transport

Bus
Just follow signs in the airport for the Central Bus Station, where there’s a choice of coach and bus services into the city. There’s a travel centre in the station that provides full service details, or you can purchase tickets for the Airbus Shuttle from the National Express desk in the arrivals hall.

Underground
Follow signs for the London Underground, where Piccadilly line trains leave every five minutes at peak times, or every nine minutes at off-peak times and weekends. It takes around 50 minutes to get to Piccadilly Circus. Trains run to Terminals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Rail: Heathrow Express
This leaves the airport every 15 minutes between 05:10 and 23:25, taking 15 minutes to reach London’s Paddington station.

Taxi
These wait on the international arrivals forecourt and take about 45 minutes to get to central London.

Car rental
Car rental desks are located in the arrivals halls. It takes approximately 45-60 minutes to get to central London. When leaving Terminal 1, follow exit signs to the access/ exit tunnel. Follow signs to the M4 motorway, which will eventually bring you into London.

CONNECTING FLIGHTS – ALL AIRPORTS
Passengers with connecting journeys using separate tickets are no longer being offered the facility of through check-in or through tagging of baggage. This means that only customers on connecting flights with itineraries issued on single tickets with one booking reference will qualify for the through check-in service, subject to minimum connection times. This policy applies to all connecting flights (bmi to bmi, bmi to other carriers and all codeshare flights).

3 Hop off, hop on again

Just paying a flying visit? The way you transfer depends on the flights you’re connecting with. Pick your starting point and follow the signs…

FLIGHT CONNECTIONS
Check the monitors to find the terminal for your next flight. If you have an onward boarding card and your bags have been tagged to your final destination, go direct to your new terminal*. If you need a new boarding card, it will be issued in the Flight Connections Centre by the appropriate carrier. If your bags haven’t been tagged to your final destination, you’ll need to pass through Arrivals and Baggage Reclaim to retrieve them, and after clearing Customs, check them in again at your departure terminal. If you are unsure which terminal to go to, please ask a member of the cabin crew or ground staff.
