Play the free trybmi game online for prizes sports fans will adore

Whether you’re a rugby player or a video-game lover, hand-eye co-ordination is key to success. And bmi has just launched a new online game, trybmi, where your skills could score you prizes from Six Nations Rugby. The free online trybmi game consists of four stages:

1. Win the scrum between two Six Nations teams. You do this by pressing your keyboard’s arrow keys left and right – superfast!

2. Next, you have to score a try by using the arrow keys to pass the ball and run.

3. Then, you have to kick the ball through the posts, using your space key, to earn points.

4. Finally, you answer five questions about Six Nations Rugby and bmi to win points. (Hint: You might want to take a look at bmi’s Twitter feed here first: http://twitter.com/flybmi, and the lastest news on the bmi website.)

You can play the game as many times as you like, and the winners are in for some big prizes!

First prize: A pair of VIP tickets to see England v France in the Six Nations on 26 February at 5pm at Twickenham, with access to the exclusive bmi Diamond Club Lounge, or to see England v Scotland in the Six Nations on 13 March at 3pm at Twickenham. [Note: the prize does not include transportation or accommodation. You must make your own way to the match.]

Second prize: A signed England Polo Shirt

Third prize: A signed England Rugby Ball

How to win
The prizes will be awarded according to your ranking in the High Score Table at 5.30pm on 23 February 2011 for the England v France tickets, and at 5.30pm on 9 March 2011 for the England v Scotland match. On both dates, those ranked second and third will win the second and third prizes.

The game will continue after that, and keep playing for your chance to win more prizes.

C’mon Rugby Fans! Get your fingers limbered up and play!

Hidden in the back streets of Bournemouth in Dorset is a discreet red-brick and Tudor-style royal love nest. When the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) fell head over heels for model-turned-actress Lillie Langtry in 1877, he built her the 12-bedroom Langtry Manor so they could conduct their passionate affair away from London gossips – and their respective spouses.

To sweep your sweetheart off his or her feet, book the extraordinary Kings Room for its Jacobean wooden bed, covered in swathes of black velvet, and inglenook fireplace with carved oak images and gold-plated tiles, hand-painted with scenes from Shakespeare’s plays. If it’s booked, try the Le Breton for its glamorous black-and-white décor.

Glasgow Harbour’s regeneration continues full-steam ahead with the opening this spring of the new Riverside Museum. Designed by British-Iraqi award-winning architect Zaha Hadid (best known in Britain for her spectacular Aquatic Centre for the London 2012 Olympics), even if you have no interest in the museum’s exhibits, the building is a must-see for any visitor to Scotland.

The Riverside Museum will be the new home for the city’s Museum of Transport, housing more than 3,000 objects in interactive displays, including locomotives, trams, cars, motorbikes, ship models, children’s toys, uniforms and paintings.

The extraordinary two-story building has been designed in such a way that, despite its vast size, it needs no internal supports, so inside will be an unobstructed free-flowing space.

Set to open in late spring (exact date TBC), this is sure to become one of Britain’s most talked-about buildings. Book a flight to Glasgow with bmi to be one of the first to see it.

Focusing on your overall wellbeing, their three-, four- and seven-day Health Hub breaks split the days into nutritional, mind and physical wellbeing (including a little bit of pampering).

Held at the grand, luxurious Danesfield House hotel (pictured below), a stately home-turned-five-star, less than an hour from London Heathrow, you’ll come away with a personally tailored regime that should give you a new perspective on your life as well as help you shift those unwanted pounds.

Like much of Britain, here at bmi Voyager, we’re mad about cats – which is why we love cat-charity queen Celia Hammond, pictured above in her 1960s supermodelling days. And it’s also why we can’t stop talking about Talk to the Tail: Adventures in Cat Ownership and Beyond, the ferociously funny follow-up to Under the Paw: Confessions of a Cat Mag, by proper journalist and critically acclaimed author Tom Cox, below.

Tom is also a big fan of Celia, so to launch Talk to the Tail, the former rock reporter convinced some of his musician mates to put on a gig, with all proceeds going to the fantastic Celia Hammond Animal Trust, a wonderful, inspirational cat charity based in southeast England that has been helping our feline friends for decades.

If you’re looking for that New Year feel-good perk-up, forget the diet and the gym. Instead, donate some of your sterling to Celia Hammond Animal Trust for a truly warm glow, and pick up a copy of Tom’s book for a proper belly laugh – a much more pleasant way to burn those Christmas pud calories.

Five Berlin facts for first-timers

Berlin Wall: East Side Gallery

Just back from a whirlwind trip in the German capital, where I learned a few interesting facts:

1. Berliners like to throw fireworks at each other on New Year’s Eve and other firework-worthy occasions. To avoid injury, book a top-floor room at The Ritz-Carlton or a neighbouring hotel near Brandenburg Gate or Potsdamer Platz, and watch the events from on high.

2. ‘Berliner’ is a perfectly acceptable term for people from Berlin. If you think otherwise, see here, and also ask any local you meet, as I did (thanks, Barbara, from www.germanyiswunderbar.com)

3. The Wall, as we called it in the West, was called the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart (Antifaschistischer Schutzwall) in East Berlin. The temporary barbed-wire version was put up literally overnight, with almost nobody being aware it was about to happen. The East German government said it was to protect their citizens from the “fascists” in the West. Most people probably already knew this. I didn’t. (Thanks, Julian, my charming tour guide at Context Travel.)

4. The Hoff (David Hasselhoff) is no longer as revered in Germany as he once was. If you’re still a fan, though, he will be making a comeback tour this year through Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

5. There are 450 modern art galleries in Berlin. For a city of just three million people, that’s really rather a lot.

Know anything else unexpected about Berlin? Tell us! And why not pop over for a quick visit yourself.

Bring the scent of the season into your home with these delectable delights

Delicious rich, decadent figs are so evocative of this time of year, and these gorgeous goodies will make your home hum with seasonal cheer.

Set the mood with Diptyque‘s beautiful Figuier Verte candle, £50/300g. When lit, it releases the delicate aroma of fig-tree wood and leaves, with a hint of green fig fruit. Having been making candles for 50 years, cult-brand Diptyque knows a thing or two about creating the perfect blend. Using paraffin or vegetable wax, with natural ingredients added, the candles release a steady, subtle aroma that will make your home feel winter warm. It burns for around 50 to 60 hours, much longer than cheaper versions. If you want a candle to last only through the festive season, you might want to try one of the smaller versions. The 190g Figuier candle costs £36 and burns for 50 hours, and the 70g candle costs £20 and lasts 25 hours. Both are in clear instead of green glass, but have the same homey aroma.

Add a layer of fig-infused beauty to your routine with Korres Fig Body Butter, £11.50/150ml, an ultra-rich moisturiser for skin that’s been chafed and chapped by blustery weather. Made with a high percentage of natural ingredients, including nourishing shea butter, sunflower, almond and avocado oils, use it all over in winter, or on rough elbows, knees and heels year-round. The fig extract not only gives it a delicious natural perfume, but it’s also rich in skin-repairing and protecting vitamins and minerals. Better still, the products aren’t tested on animals and avoid chemical nasties like parabens. If you’re looking for a sweet festive gift, pair this with the Korres Fig Shower Gel, £7/250ml, and the Korres Fig Toning Body Mist, £9.50/50ml.

With all that figginess in the air, you’re going to get a craving to eat some. The most delicious we’ve tasted in years are the delectable chocolate-covered figs, £12.50 for 18 figs, from Flavours of Spain. Luscious, dried organic figs are covered in Belgian chocolate, with a hint of almond praline in the middle. Serve it with coffee or champagne on New Year’s Eve to add a decadent touch to your celebrations. Mmmm…

Antwerp, Belgium

This tres-chic city has been bubbling away in the trend stakes for years, but it seems to be finally hitting the big time, thanks to the opening bijou boutique hotels, fashionable retailers and growing cafe culture. Imagine Paris meets Amsterdam, with a dash of Belgian savoir faire, and you get the idea. At just one hour from Brussels, this is the short break getaway that’ll astonish everyone from stylistas to families. Get to Antwerp by flying into Brussels, then it’s just one hour away by train.

Azerbaijan

Bordered by Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Iran and the Caspian Sea, this is one of those magical crossroads, where East meets West, geographically and ideologically. Although most people tick the Muslim box on forms, in fact, the majority of people in this secular state practise their religion as much as the Brits, which is to say, hardly at all. Until the 1990s war, Azerbaijan was popular with adventurous tourists, keen to see the country’s archaeological and geographical wonders, including the 6,000 rock engravings of Gobustan World Heritage Site, dating back to 40,000BC, vast, impressive mountains and architectural wonders. Now it’s no longer at war, it’s attracting huge international interest, from major political figures (US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has been visiting), to movie makers (Gérard Depardieu is starring in a film set in the country next year), to British footballers (Arsenal legend Tony Adams is now managing one of the country’s premier football teams). Fly with bmi to Baku in Azerbaijan.

Libya

After years on the blacklist, this country is making a comeback, inviting outsiders to rediscover its world-heritage wonders and scenic souks and old town. Roman and Greek ruins abound in the countryside, and cosmopolitan Tripoli is once again giving off an air of sophistication in its cafes, shops and nightspots. For the true explorer, this is one hotspot you won’t want to miss. Fly with bmi to Tripoli in Libya from February 2011.

A perfect little present for your feet

Anyone who has been on a city break will have experienced this phenomenom at least once: aching feet from uncomfortable shoes. One innovative East London fashion company has provided some relief.

The stylish ballet pumps from Cocorose fold in half, to fit into the tiniest package, easy to tuck away into handbags or backpacks. In fact, they come within their own little self-contained wristbag, so if all you want to carry is the shoes, credit cards and cash, you won’t even need to take a full-sized bag. And when you slip off your blister-makers, Cocorose has helpfully provided a bag for those, too.

But how much pavement pounding can flimsy slippers take? A surprising amount. Unlike typical ballet shoes, these have relatively thick rubber soles, with some pain-relieving cushioning inside. While you wouldn’t want these to be your only shoes for a three-day city break, they’re stylish enough for nights on the town and robust enough to pound the pavements for an afternoon or two. And they’ll take up far less room in your luggage than evening shoes.

And if you’re gearing up for the party season, follow in the footsteps of female flight attendants, who totter through airports and greet passengers with their pretty heels on, then sneak off to slip on comfortable flats for the duration of the flight, with few people ever noticing the difference. So totter into that chic soiree for a showstopping arrival with your Louboutins or Choos, then sneak on the discreet Cocorose slippers once the party’s in full swing, and nobody will be the wiser.
