It’s the beginning of the end for muggles and wizards the world over. Now that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 has finally opened, you’ve just another eight months to get your fill of the bewitching world until the final film is released on 15 July 2011.

Most of the exterior scenes for all the Harry Potter films were shot in the dramatic Highlands. m easily accessible from Aberdeen. Don’t miss Loch Arkaig in the Western Highlands, which you’ recognise from scenes in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
The Jacobite (Hogwarts Express)
And don’t miss a trip on the real Hogwarts Express, The Jacobite runs an 84-mile route where you can see everything the students saw on their way to the school, from the very same carriages Harry, Ron and Hermione sat in. Keep an eye out for Dementors as the train croses Glenfinnan Viaduct, as this is where they stopped the train in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Want to see the banqueting hall where the students had their meals? Head to Christchurch College in Oxford, about an hour from London Heathrow. Keep going another hour to Gloucester Cathedral to search for Nearly Headless Nick, Mr Filch and Professor Dumbledore. This is where many of the interior scenes of the school were shot.
