L’Occitane’s newest fragrance launch is Peony (£28, 50ml) with, as you’d expect, peony, and also rose petals at the heart. Grapefruit in the top notes gives it freshness. www.loccitane.com

After the richer, more sensuous Jo Wood Organics oils, comes her new light, white floral. Tula (£36, 50ml) still sticks to organic oils and essences but is very feminine with a high presence of jasmine and frangipani. www.jowoodorganics.com

Such was the success of Miller Harris’s bespoke perfume for actress/singer Jane Birkin, L’Air de Rien, that a lighter version has been created that is more neroli-led and mossy. Called Un Petit Rien, it launched in March (£60, 50ml eau de cologne) and is decorated with Birkin’s hand-drawn nymphs. www.millerharris.com

Floris’s No 89 (£30, 30ml eau de cologne) is an energising men’s fragrance, named after its boutique at 89 Jermyn Street in London.

This classical cologne was a favourite of Ian Fleming yet is still perfect for today’s James Bonds. www.florislondon.com

The French house Maison Francis Kurkdjian was a well-kept secret until it recently came to Liberty.

Its Cologne Pour Le Matin (£125, 200ml) will appeal to those who don’t like anything too ‘perfumey’. This feels like a splash in a rejuvenating shower. www.liberty.co.uk

Liz Earle, best known for her natural skincare, has finally brought out her first fragrance. Botanical Essence No 1 (£39.50, 50ml) is a sophisticated eau de parfum. Among several new launches, this stands out as different with over 98 percent derived from natural ingredients – geranium, mandarin, lavender and an underlying spiciness from cardamom and coriander. www.lizearle.com
