How many pythons do you need to make a handbag?

IF MARC JACOBS WAS AMERICAN FASHION’S BAD BOY, then Michael Kors was the go-to for uptown girls with perfect blow-dries. And big hair needs equally large accessories.
So Kors’s latest creation is the one-off bag he has designed exclusively for online boutique Quintessentially Bespoke. With just 75 available throughout the world, the Roslyn Tote is a limited-edition shoulder bag made of ivory python skin with gold-tipped detail and lined with bronze silk.
“When we heard that Michael Kors was launching in London, we leapt on the idea of working with him and asked him to make an exclusive product for us,” says Lee Coleman, Quintessentially Bespoke’s managing director. “The result is a bag that is buttery to the touch.”
Rather less soft on credit cards, though. Its price tag of £1,995 probably restricts the market to oligarchs’ wives and princesses. Although, given that it’s a roomy shoulder-cruncher, you do get an awful lot of python for your money. Robina Dam www.quintessentiallybespoke.com
