Time capsule

Need somewhere to store your watch collection?

WORDS | SIMON WHITE

TIME RICH, YET WRIST POOR? Don’t worry watch lovers, we’ve come up with an answer to that common conundrum: “How do I justify buying more luxury timepieces if I have nowhere special to store them?”

The answer comes only in a limited run, is fashioned from black sycamore and carries the kind of price tag you’d find on an entry-level Patek Philippe. Bamford Watch Department’s collector’s box has four display bays for your most treasured chronographs, each with dedicated watch winders, ensuring your jewel mechanisms remain accurate.

Designed by aristocratic furniture maker David Linley (son of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon) and society photographer George Bamford (heir to the JCB fortune), clearly men with refined tastes, the box has James Bond pretensions: press a hidden button and the lid opens, revealing an anodised-aluminium watch tube for when you’re away from home.

This high-tech style doesn’t come cheap: £15,000 for the box alone. For true wrist envy, ask Bamford to fill the box with their bespoke Rolexes, Tag Heuers and the like. Yours for a mere £60,000.
