Horses + ski resorts = the ultimate high society sport?

WHAT DO YOU GET IF YOU PAIR THE ARISTOCRACY’S FAVOURITE SPORT WITH SWITZERLAND’S PRISTINE RESORTS? Snow Polo, a match made in high society heaven. Players are already preparing for the St Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow (28-31 January 2010), where horsemen will whack away in front of fur coat-clad spectators at the famous ski resort, including a serious sprinkling of A-listers.
Meanwhile, the chic Swiss resort of Klosters has also launched their own essential date on the international circuit. The Berenberg Snow Polo Tournament (21-24 January 2010) is a more intimate, and some say thrilling experience.
“They are literally able to almost touch the horses, which makes the atmosphere electric,” explains Daniel Waechter, who co-founded the Berenberg Snow Polo tournament with UK star polo player Jack Kidd (sister of model Jodie). “But it’s a very relaxed, really fun event with many of the games played in the evening, and we throw lots of great parties too,” he says, before adding, in the spirit of Alpine inclusivity: “You don’t need a fur coat to come to it!” – nor to be dressed in Moncler.
