Fame’s new kids on the block

Pineapple’s founder Debbie Moore launches Fame range at Debenhams

Pineapple's wannabe Fame crew

It may have been 30 years since the iconic Pineapple Dance Studios opened in London’s Covent Garden, but our feet feel like auditioning for Fame again. Just in time for the craze of all things 1980s is the forthcoming new film version of Fame. And it was the clothing as much as the dance that we want to recreate so I went to meet Pineapple’s founder, entrepreneur Debbie Moore, at the studios yesterday – and was put through my paces by the dance instructor Louie Spence.

“Just feel the music and move,” recommended Debbie. “And yes, it helps to look the part though you don’t need to have the perfect figure. A pair of leggings with an oversized Pineapple t shirt is fine.” Which is all very well for the willowy businesswoman with perfect pins (and Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year Award) who has just launched a new Fame clothing line that is exclusive to Debenhams.

No wonder Moore is unstoppable. Remember her name.
