Cost-conscious queen
Rania of Jordan recycles her old fashion

Ever since Queen Elizabeth’s habit of storing breakfast cereal in Tupperware boxes was exposed, she has been unassailable in her position as the most budget-conscious monarch.
However, the glamorous Queen Rania of Jordan, 38, might be able to trump her on one count. Although she is usually known for her designer wardrobe (and humanitarian causes, naturally), she surprised her international fans by showing prudence in her preening. For the recent celebrations in Jordan to mark the tenth anniversary of her accession to the Hashemite throne as the wife of King Abdullah II, she chose to give her original coronation gown another airing.
Lebanese couture king Elie Saab, whose creations have been worn by powerful women from Beirut to Hollywood, couldn’t have hoped for better endorsement. The full-length frock that he designed was embroidered with spun gold and intricately beaded, in his signature style. We bet there’s a new wave of ladies rushing over in their Manolos from Amman to Saab’s couture HQ in Beirut. And we may even report back on what she wears for her twentieth anniversary, in’shallah.
