Holland’s Queen’s Day hit in London

Partying with the Dutch on their national day in Trafalgar Square

View from the Trafalgar Hotel

Forget about painting the town red – Trafalgar Square was awash with orange this weekend. The Dutch contingent in London were rocking out in their tangerine T-shirts to the live bands all day but looking up at the skyline I saw another orange posse hanging over the Roof Terrace of the Trafalgar Hotel. It was the stakeout of the Dutch Tourist Board who were chilling with their bird’s eye view. “It’s the largest celebration outside of Holland – allegedly,” Rianne Ojeh, their press officer, tells me. And forget the Australian reputation: “We party harder,” she promises.
