Pretend you’re a louche 1980s’ rock star at Wet Republic, the new rooftop pool bar
at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The wow factor effected by the tiered design of the
jacuzzis will impress even the most jaded VIP – it brings to mind a tower of coupe
glasses cascading champagne. Throw in some Japanese blueberry trees for eye
candy and you’ve got one hot venue. Or sip your drinks in the covered cabanas.

Opera-tunity

The five star Culloden Estate & Spa in Belfast
becomes an opera house for three nights this month. Groups
of 10 people or more can book cabaret-style tables for dinner
and a performance of Pietro Mascagni’s classic opera Cavalleria
Rusticana. The opera evenings kick off with a champagne
reception on the terrace overlooking Belfast Lough and take
place on 16, 17 and 18 June. They’re not going for a song though;
the cost for a table of 10 is £1,650 plus VAT with reduced rates
for overnight guests.

Room at the top

The Crane may be the oldest
hotel in Barbados, dating
from 1887, but there’s
probably more international
buzz about it now than ever.
The famous cliff top has
been a location for Vogue
shoots and there’s now also
a restaurant perched on it,
named Zen. Chef Michael
Forde, formerly of Sandy Lane, is currently serving up Thai
panang curry and sashimi (there’s a sushi bar within the
restaurant). The ‘rooms’ here are in fact small apartments,
kitted out with kitchens and – in some cases – even
ensuite swimming pools.
