THE DEMAND FOR more male grooming
havens in London sees this month’s launch of
the new City location for Gentlemen’s Tonic
with yet another to follow in the Square
Mile later this summer. The original, which is
tucked away in a mews off Berkeley Square
in Mayfair, set the bar for the discerning man about town.
A peaceful retreat from the bustle of the modern
metropolis, Gentlemen’s Tonic offers a wide range of
luxurious treatments, including a traditional barbershop,
and a range of lifestyle and grooming services. These
encompass everything from classic wet shaves and teeth
whitening to Swedish massages and hangover cures (one
of which is aptly named The Hemingway).
Zipping through time zones and different cities can
leave you feeling the need to catch up on more than just
a little sleep, so executives or simply the well-travelled will
want to plump for GT’s signature The Traveller massage
(£90 for 75 minutes; other massages start from £40).
Specifically aimed at “those who have been in the air
for a while, or are permanently on the go”, you can start
relaxing with a drink in the lounge while you await your
masseuse. This head-to-toe treatment uses a range of oils
and creams, and focuses on the back and neck. Tension
and stiffness are soon expertly alleviated as soothing
music plays from the high-tech music console. And the
after-effects of the treatment last long after you’ve left
for your next business meeting or executive flight.

Mumm’s the word

If you want to turn up to a party with a quality bottle of fizz that’s not only chilled but also in no danger of getting
smashed en route, the G.H. Mumm Traveller Tin is just the solution. The sleek, brushed aluminium case comes with carryon
straps that give the wearer a definite James Bond look. It’s normally £25.99, but if you make any purchases in Alfred
Dunhill’s London stores (in either Jermyn Street or Sloane Street) worth more than £250, you receive a voucher for a
special Dunhill delivery rider who is despatched on a Triumph motorbike to personally present the Traveller Tin either to
you or a lucky recipient anywhere in the capital over either of this year’s May Bank Holiday weekends (3-5 May or 31
May-2 June). It doesn’t get much smoother than this – the champers or the gesture, that is; www.dunhill.com
