Sixteen is the first restaurant
in Chicago from American
entrepreneur turned reality
TV star Donald Trump. The
billionaire businessman brings
his typical “more is more”
aesthetic to the venture, from
the overhead chandeliers to
the 30-foot floor-to-ceiling
windows which show off the
city’s famous skyline. The food is
a quirky take on luxury. Try chef
Frank Brunacci’s lobster tostada

Make it snappy

Actor Clive Owen is among those who think a visit to Barbados isn’t
complete without seafood at Aqua, a two-storey beach-side restaurant
and lounge. Main courses that draw visiting A-listers include crusted ruby
snapper with aubergine. And now, there are Japanese-style options on the
new sushi and sake menu. Finish off with the pistachio crème brûlée.

Blooming marvellous

Dehesa in London’s Soho is the latest place to
go for top-flight tapas, and is the new sister
restaurant to one of the capital’s best-kept
secrets, Salt Yard on Charlotte Street. It’s no
exaggeration to say the deep-fried courgette
flowers with honey and Monte Enebro (a Spanish
goats’ cheese) are one of London’s best bites. Try
also the mackerel a la plancha with quince, apple and pear alioli.x

A truffling matter

Pigs and hounds can be taught to hunt for
truffles, but few of us would expect to find
this luxury ingredient on a pizza. However,
a black truffle pizza is now on the menu at
Leeds restaurant Croma. The building was
formerly a bank, and Croma’s Nick McNally says the vault safes have
come in handy for insurance purposes, ensuring the valuable truffles are
locked away. At a reasonable £11.95, the pizza is worth snuffling out.
