Nails and emails

The golf resort of Royal Westmoreland in Barbados has expanded to include a beach bar (pictured) and spa,
both at Mullins Beach on the west coast. Something for everyone, then. Indulgence Spa features a waterfall
pool, therapy rooms, nail salon and internet lounge. We’re not sure letting us check emails was the most
relaxing idea… Royal Westmoreland, St James, Barbados, +1 246 422 4653; www.royal-westmoreland.com

Any old hotel gives you a mint on
your pillow. We prefer Jumby Bay
Resort near Antigua (pictured),
where each guest gets the use of
a complimentary bicycle. It
comes in handy for exploring the
300-acre private island, with its
palm-lined beaches and distinctive
Caribbean architecture.

Take me to Tbilisi

Once the Ministry of Agriculture, an historic building
in the city centre of Tbilisi, Georgia, will reopen early
in 2010 as the city’s first InterContinental Hotel.
The company says the five-star destination, with
self-contained apartments and a business centre, is a
response to rising global traffic to the Georgian capital.

Bodes well

The small but steady
expansion of the Abode
hotel chain continues apace,
with a new branch opening
in Manchester this month,
in the 19th-century Rossetti building. Existing hotels,
in destinations including Glasgow, merge the design
element with cosiness – think sinking your feet into
Paul Smith-style stripy carpets.
