PROFILE WILL SMITH
The man we once knew as the ‘Fresh Prince’ plays one of the last men alive in I Am Legend
- Will Smith, 39, was born in West Philadelphia.
His full name is the same as his father’s: Willard
Christopher Smith. Smith’s eldest son (born
in December 1992) is named Willard
Christopher Smith III but is known as ‘Trey’. - As a teenager Smith acquired the
nickname ‘Prince’ (which later became
‘Fresh Prince’) because of his
charisma and charm. - Smith started his career
as a rapper, performing with
Jeff Townes, aka Jazzy Jeff.

Nothing But Trouble, Boom!

and Summertime. - Record executive
Benny Medina had the
idea for a sitcom starring
Smith as a streetwise
Philadelphia kid displaced
in Beverly Hills. The Fresh
Prince Of Bel-Air flrst aired
in 1990 and lasted six years. - Smith’s flrst huge movie hit was
1996’s Independence Day, in which he saved
the world from alien invasion. He went on
to battle more visitors from outerspace as
Agent Jay in the more light-hearted fllm
Men In Black (1997) and its sequels. In
2007 Smith’s successful track record led
Newsweek to describe him as “the most
powerful actor on the planet”. - The actor has been married
twice and his current wife is the
actress Jada Pinkett, 36. - His son Jaden Smith, nine,
won critical acclaim when he
starred with his father in The
Pursuit of Happyness (2006). - Smith’s daughter Willow,
seven, acts with her father in
his recent blockbuster, sci-fi
thriller I Am Legend (2007).
