New hand luggage policy from 3 July
In support of IATA guidelines, BAA amended their policy for dealing with hand baggage at all of their UK airports on 3 July 2006.
As of this date, no passenger will be allowed to proceed through the security checkpoint x-ray machines if their hand luggage exceeds the IATA standard size, which is 56cm long, 45cm wide and 25cm deep.
Any passenger trying to pass through security with baggage that exceeds these dimensions will be asked to return to check-in and check the bag into the hold instead.
To align with this new policy, bmi amended the permitted cabin baggage to match these IATA standard dimensions from 3 July, with the new changes being applicable across the entire bmi network.
Dependent upon your fare type, you will still be able to take on board the same number of cabin bags as previously, so long as they match the relevant weight and dimensions criteria.
Only the dimensions of the permitted cabin baggage have changed. For more detailed information about these recent changes please visit our website www.flybmi.com
Spend less time at the airport with online check-in*
Save yourself time and hassle at the airport by checking-in online. bmi’s online check-in is constantly being updated and improved to make it more convenient for you. It is available from 24 hours before your flight up to one hour before departure. You can check-in and print your boarding card from the comfort of your home or office. When you arrive at the airport, simply drop any bags you may have at the bmi bag drop and head straight to departures.
Recent improvements to online check-in mean you no longer have to enter a separate form of identification to retrieve your booking. All you need do is simply enter the booking reference you were given by either flybmi.com or your travel agent.
